Speed of Oceans

about

'Speed of Oceans' is my ninth album. It is also my shortest album, at almost 25 minutes long.

The reason I decided to turn this into an album and not an EP is because I view it as substantial.

'Speed of Oceans' was recorded at some point in 2019 while I was in Edinburgh. It is heavily inspired by the sound of Weyes Blood's Titanic Rising and David Atttenborough's Blue Planet II.

With this record, I wanted to create an immersive experience that would mimic the sound and feeling of being underwater.

I took inspiration from the vastness of the ocean, and how we know very little of it.

This record is as much an ode to the unknown as it is a veneration of the strange beauty that lies within our planet.

It is also a protest album that seeks to remind us of the tons of toxic waste that is released into the oceans and seas every day.

One of the reasons why this record was not released so soon after I made it was because I struggled with creating the artwork. In most cases, creating the artwork is the hardest stage of releasing music for me.
